Chibi Otaku Fanboy Goes Wild!

Well just as I was about to post something simple like my desktop or a random picture or video, the mailman came to deliver a package we’ve been waiting for all month. I won’t say the store I bought it from because I probably won’t be buying from them again any time soon. I made the order on the 2nd and it just arrived today, nothing was back-ordered or out of stock either. On top of that the box was broken in half and taped shut, and appropriately marked damaged. Luckily everything inside was o.k. though so nothing to be upset about.

So here’s the contents of this package. 1 Haruhi Suzumiya wall scroll, 1 SOS brigade button, and last, although most important, a 6 inch plush Chi doll for my son, who’s been a Chobits fanatic since uh, well, probably since he was old enough to see a computer screen and watch cartoons. Yeah he’s only 4 years old but he LOVES Chi. He was the one who spotted the mailman pulling up and gasped and ran to the door frantically opening it in excitement. So, I got permission from him to post his picture up here with his new Chi. The wall scroll and button were for my wife, I’m sure she’ll post different pictures today on her blog too.

Now he wants to sit down and watch his favorite anime today. Good thing we got the complete collection lol.

Inspirational Anime

One of my favorite songs, from one of my favorite anime’s!:D I am so inspired by Nana, I would love to have the clothing she has and sing the way she does!:D Blackstones forever!:D

Stuck in my head :x

Tsukasa Hiiragi from Lucky Star. AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!!!!!!!!!!!!! This video has been infecting my eardrums for some time now, but today especially it’s been replaying in my head so I just had to let it out on here.

Anime voice actors/actresses

So yeah, I said I would talk this time about how I noticed that the same voice actors do alot of different anime characters, and this video would be a perfect example, if you listen kind of closely, you can hear Aya Hirano switching between Konata’s and Haruhi’s voice. 😀

Note that these are all examples from dubbed versions of anime, not subbed.

Yuki Nagato from “The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya” is voiced by Michelle Ruff, who also voices the english version of Chi from “Chobits”. Crispin Freeman voice actor for Kyon, the protagonist of “The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya” also plays Hideki Motosuwa in “Chobits”. Another reason that one caught my attention was how the 2 characters in these anime’s seem to be so close to each other, and how Yuki is a “Humanoid Interface”, and Chi is a “Persocom”, somewhat similar roles. Yet another example, in the dubbed version again of these two anime’s is that Wendee Lee plays the voice of Takako Shimizu in “Chobits” and Haruhi Suzumiya in “The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya”. And even yet another example of these 2 anime’s, the “Peep Show” manager in “Chobits” and the leader in the “computer club”(?, can’t remember if this was the exact term they used?) Dave Wittenburg. Anyway, yes, listen carefully and you will find it is the same voice actor.:). Also last but not least, Kari Wahlgren voiced Kotoko from “Chobits” and also Kyon’s sister and Tsuruya-san in “The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya” There are many other examples from other anime, these were just some examples off the top of my head.

Well, there’s your “anime 101” for the day!:) Hope you all enjoyed!:D

My first blogger post!!:D

Hello!:D My name is Leanna Dawn, I am 26, married, and have a 4 year old son. And yes, persocom-san is my husband, I have his blog linked on my page. We are all anime crazy over here!:D My favorite anime that I am working on learning the dance for is “The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya“.

I found out this dance is actually harder than it looks.

Anyway, back to my life, I am a workaholic as well as an animeholic, I work 2 part time jobs, one of which is at the Olive Garden in Pueblo, Colorado. And it was brought to my attention by one of the cooks there, that they have “Olive Garden Girls” featured on Playboy.com, I thought that was amusing, and here is a little clip about the girl who started it. I will show you the rest of the story in a later post. Sorry if I keep rambling off topic, you’ll tend to get used to that with me.

And again back to my life… sorry… Here is a picture of me just to get things started off…

And yes, I did dye my hair jet black (again!:P)
Okay, I think I posted enough for now, if you have any questions or comments for me feel free to leave them here.
In a later post I will talk about how I found that voice actors tend to work together in a lot of anime’s and how I realized this, and will also post Aya Hirano doing the voice acting for Haruhi and for Konata (Lucky Star), I thought it was rather cool to see her do this!:D
I will also post some pictures from the anime collection my husband and I have started!:D Some you will find on his page, others I will post myself.:D
Hope to hear from you all soon!:D

Hatsune Miku shirt arrival!

Well I just went to check my mailbox and found a pleasant surprise! I had ordered a Hatsune Miku t-shirt from J-List about a month ago I’d say, and they told me soon after my order that due to conventions they were all out and the shirt was on backorder. Well it’s here now. My very first “anime” shirt. Previously 90% of my shirt wardrobe was band t-shirts, and I had been looking through my closet in disgust at how boring that really is. Sure I love music, and Miku is technically a music program herself, but when I saw the shirt I had to have it. I think it was $18.95, + around $2-3 shipping and handling, which wasn’t bad at all. I’d spend around the same amount at the mall for a band t-shirt. Anyways here’s a couple shots of the shirt ^^

Yeah in the first picture there’s a complimentary package of tissues that came with the shirt. I guess J-list does that with all the orders. Keep them for cleaning my figma? *shrug*

So what is anime to me? You could say anime is my anti-drug quite literally. A lot of anime actually affects me as a whole, for instance “Welcome To The N.H.K.” snapped me out of my unhealthy obsession with online gaming, just at the time when I was getting bored of it anyways, it also made me realize how much of a shut-in I had become. Sometimes I still play online games but I don’t let them suck me in and tune out the rest of the world. This is only one of many issues addressed in this anime but it’s an example of the impact it had on me.

I’d like to share a quote by Dr. Seuss that I think applies to people quite well, related to the subject of how you are perceived by others – “Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don’t matter and those who matter don’t mind.” This is especially true about those who criticize others about the things they like. If you don’t like something you don’t need to blatantly bash people about it, negativity only breeds more negativity. And now I’ll finish on a positive note. Here’s a picture that I really like because I’m a husband and a father. Parenthood really changes a person’s perspective.

Dango family from Clannad. My son adores the song and the animation to the ED, so here it is for your viewing pleasure. He even draws dango outside with sidewalk chalk! 🙂

Figures and Wall Scrolls

So I’m still awake at almost 1 AM and I figure I’d just throw some random photos up to get started and link you to my figure collection. I’ve only recently began collecting anime related character figures, mainly because of the discovery of Figma which I will be posting pictures of the two I currently own on here. Of course, I have to give credit to DannyChoo because if I hadn’t found his awesome site while looking for information on Japan I wouldn’t even have become a figure collector. I always admired figures when I saw them but the price and the practicality turned me off, because normal figures aren’t poseable like a figma is, and the prices are so high for something that can only sit on your shelf or desk and look pretty. Of course I will admit there are plenty of figures I’ve got my eyes on that aren’t figmas, but figmas are what I’m the most excited about. So far I have only Yuki Nagato and Haruhi Suzumiya but as you’ll see from my collection I have a few more pre-ordered. I’m really looking forward to the Miku Hatsune figma the most of all I think. Still no word on when it’ll be out though. Alright enough talk, here’s some pictures of my current collection which is just starting out.

Yuki Nagato & Haruhi Suzumiya

Also, a non-figma that you could expect from someone going by Persocom-san if you’ve any idea what a persocom is. Chobits very own Chi. You’ll have to bare with me, I’m not very talented at taking pictures of figures yet, I’m only used to shooting scenery and people, and I’m only using a digital camera. I didn’t bother photoshopping these yet to make them look better so you’re left with the raw photos. Chi on the top, Haruhi and Yuki on the bottom.

I’ll definately work on my figure photography skills more, and keep updating when I do take new pictures. I suppose now I’ll show you my small collection of wall scrolls? Recently I got sick of posters because they end up beat up and torn so easily, especially when moving. Wall scrolls are so much better because they roll up easy, don’t need tape, staples, tacks or nails in them, and the material is thicker and sturdier than plain poster paper. Wall scrolls for the win! I kept the box from one that I ordered online for storage. I only have two so far but one more should be showing up in the mail within the week.

Well then I guess that’s enough for this entry. Goodnight!
